About Demo Day DIY

Demo Day DIY is a home-repair site for first-time homeowners in the United States. It is for the small, scary first-time fixes: a toilet that will not stop running, a wobbly toilet, or a fill valve that needs replacing.

I’m Jame Michaeel. I own and run this site.

I am not a licensed plumber, electrician, or contractor. I am a DIY-obsessed homeowner who researches every guide against manufacturer instructions and code sources. Permit work and gas work are not taught as DIY on this site. For that work, hire a licensed pro.

How I research a guide

  1. Manufacturer and code sources first. Forum advice never outranks manufacturer instructions.
  2. I read the top results in full, and a guide must add something missing before I write it.
  3. Real homeowner language is used honestly as reported speech, never presented as my own experience.
  4. Costs are shown with their basis: what is covered, when the price was checked, and what is left out.
  5. Every article carries a “Last verified” date and a Sources section. Facts I cannot verify are cut or flagged.

“Verified” means researched against manufacturer and code sources, not hands-on testing in my own home. This site does not use a fabricated “reviewed by an expert” line, and it does not claim credentials I do not hold.

What this site covers

This site covers plumbing repairs, bathroom projects, kitchen fixes and upgrades, paint and drywall, non-permit electrical basics, and outdoor and yard work, for US homes, parts, prices, and code.

What this site does not cover as DIY

Permit work in most US jurisdictions and all gas work are not covered as DIY. For those jobs, this site gives a pro recommendation, questions to ask when hiring, and typical costs instead of step-by-step DIY instructions.

Corrections

If you spot a mistake, please send it through the Contact page or by email at hello@demodaydiy.com. Corrections are checked against the source, the article is fixed, and the verification date is updated.
